Bag it all online

for those new to this website– I am not asking you to look into bags or clothing or accessories — but to check out these “websites” — how they are presenting their products and the images they use and colors, the webpage layout, wordings of the product descriptions, by-line, etc.

A bag company has made a major online social media push. They have made their presence known and felt. Its not leather but nicely available at the touch of your fingers.

Many people are so enamoured, the brand literally has them by the eyes and ba__s. People want one for sure and the brand has many cool ones in varying colors and for differing purposes.

I have enough bags to pack a truck but it’s tempting to buy one.

What I would love for business owners and manufacturers to do is– look at their online shop, its design and their branding. The layout and slides cover so many products on the frontpage without looking cluttered or confusing. The color usage is also very youthful.

Their social media is also very engaging and lively, even though they are not replying to comments, and not even clicking like on positive comments. This is trendy! They have become something beyond themselves.

Fur Jaden is a company started by a couple from Mumbai. Now, they probably can’t keep this business within four walls –probably needing a major warehouse and logistics deals.

Their approach to the customer is very marketing savvy, very chic, very hip and they know their target customer’s vibe, the pulse of the market. They didn’t aim to create all-in-one solution bag or never-gets-destroyed bag. They made a durable, stylish bag that is competitively priced and available at more than just their website.

They offer good discount on social media orders and additional discount on prepaid orders. Its listed on Amazon India as well but most of the good ones are out of stock there–thus forcing people to go buy on their website. This is wicked and makes you admire them more as a rising fashion name on the social horizon–after having achieved success on social-media’s vast open skies.

The name is typical — Fur Jaden — makes buyers think its European and maybe fools others into thinking its expensive or a foreign brand. I mean –it is okay that some people don’t want Indian names—they want something that sounds pricey and imported. Watches, clothing, shoes, pens or other accessories including bags need to be aspirational. Something that envisions the future for the owner–not the present.

Everyone already knows the big names in fashion (or bags) — so delighting in knowing you have a cool sounding branded bag from an Indian firm is a secretive euphoria—typical of giggling girls and prodding teens, young adults, bored housewives and men with mid-life crises.

That’s the worst of the criticism–because factually, it is an admirable marketing success which is still ongoing–reaching new heights in its journey of delivering bags to those who want to go places in life.

Something similar was achieved in USA by Young LA, which is a brand most urban Indians have already known and tried to access, if they don’t already own merchandise from them.

The success of urban clothing, branding and licensing can be reflected in India’s homegrown Hollywood licensed (actually, various IP and Trademarks and Brands) merchandise brand The Souled Store

BTW — for those new to this website– I am not asking you to look into bags or clothing or accessories — go check out these “websites” — how they are presenting their products and the images they use and colors, the webpage layout, wordings of the product descriptions, by-line, etc.

Who would have believed one could compete with top corporations and their big spending on advertisements for their apparel and accessories brands?

The opportunity is for everyone as I always say–and it is accessible now. Since past 10 years, India’s online economy has swelled and soared new heights, competing with the tech start-up and fintech focus. After all, what good is all the technology, the logistics solutions and payments systems–if you have nothing to sell and nothing that the buyer deems “attractive” or “desirable”.

So, if you need to revisit your entrepreneurship story, relook the map of your business path, let us sit face-to-face online or offline to evaluate the project and reaffirm faith in possibilities, capabilities and available facilities.
