Opportunity to proselytize about opportunity

Opportunity comes in the guise of work and also in the form of obstacles or challenges. Opportunity can be profitable or it might just show you your potential. You may desire change or you may desire knowledge. Only those who are prepared are the ones who are able to maximize material and immaterial gains from everyday opportunities. Sometimes, volunteering opportunities give you such life skills that it transforms salaried men and women into entrepreneurs or influencers.

Just because you didn’t get paid doesn’t mean you didn’t gain anything. Sometimes, the best opportunities teach us the joy of sharing and caring rather than earning and fuelling ambition.

Also, yes, everyday brings an opportunity. There is no certainty any human would wake up the next day but here I am alive and well because life is a lottery and a multitude of things can go right or wrong. Every morning, every sunny day is all a blessing and more importantly–yet another opportunity to pursue your ambitions, projects, hobbies, and random endeavours or even adventures.

In case you are not prepared for the opportunity at hand—well, show up anyways. Maybe you will surprise yourself by your capacity, tenacity and latent skills or innate will. No man exists who has not benefitted from the men gone by. As Newton noted —“if I have seen further [than others], it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.”.

Well, don’t go too far, simply Google the stuff, get hold of a few YouTube videos, ask an AI bot and read a few reviews and articles on “how-to” “DIY”—-then give it a shot. Failure comes to those who give a shit. Those who try. Others who wait for the perfect time and place and preparation–accomplish little to nothing in life. Failure will teach you and prepare you and encourage you. Sitting by the fence will cultivate anxiety, fear, cowardice and subsequently failure, without even taking on the opportunity.

Imagine that– failing without even trying? Why would you prefer that? Good things come to those who chase them. So get out and get off the couch and get going. Work for everything you enjoy, “make opportunities” for your favourite task to generate some income, and then find a way to make a career from the things you are enjoying. Heck, find ways and means to make money from the wealth you eventually get to enjoy—put that money to work–invest and save and find opportunities for the funds to grow.

HERE IS A POEM THAT SAYS MORE IN LESS INTIMIDATING WAY

Berton Braley (29 January 1882 – 23 January 1966) was an American poet. His best-known poem is “The Will to Win”, written in a motivational tone.

Opportunity by Berton Braley

With doubt and dismay you are smitten
You think there’s no chance for you, son?
Why, the best books haven’t been written
The best race hasn’t been run,
The best score hasn’t been made yet,
The best song hasn’t been sung,
The best tune hasn’t been played yet,
Cheer up, for the world is young!

No chance? Why the world is just eager
For things that you ought to create
Its store of true wealth is still meagre
Its needs are incessant and great,
It yearns for more power and beauty
More laughter and love and romance,
More loyalty, labor and duty,
No chance- why there’s nothing but chance!

For the best verse hasn’t been rhymed yet,
The best house hasn’t been planned,
The highest peak hasn’t been climbed yet,
The mightiest rivers aren’t spanned,
Don’t worry and fret, faint hearted,
The chances have just begun,
For the Best jobs haven’t been started,
The Best work hasn’t been done.
