“There be no Gods as powerful as that we believe, no devil as wicked as that we deny.”–Ujjwal Dey
Context
Our beliefs empower us as well as empower the elements, things, institutions and persons we believe in–whether they be a God, a stone, a clay sculpture, a photo on a mobile phone, a temple, a car, a book, a sportsperson, a leader, your teacher, your mother or your own self.
Similarly, when you deny the injustices you have witnessed, deny the lies you have heard and pretend that all is well with the matters being discussed or debated, that no wrongdoing has occurred when you have evidence to the contrary, when you wish away the misfortunes and maladies and misery of other people seeking your aid and good word, you have not denied them support or assistance–you have empowered evil. This evil will survive and grow powerful enough to consume you soon.
